Heritage HUB launches a series of dialogues between specialists involved in monitoring and preserving the UNESCO site of Sighișoara and the local community.
At this first meeting, “Community and the UNESCO Heritage of Sighișoara”, we will present and discuss the following topics:
• Presentation of the concepts of Heritage and UNESCO Heritage.
• Sighișoara as a UNESCO site – the features that make it relevant as a heritage of outstanding universal value. The roles of state, local and national institutions, the community, specialized NGOs, and international bodies in heritage protection.
• Presentation of the responsibilities of COU Sighișoara – Ruxandra Balaci, art historian, curator, Coordinator of COU Sighișoara.
• Presentation of the “Heritage HUB” project and the activity of the Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation in the protection and restoration of built heritage – Michaela Türk, Director of MET, COU member, Local Councillor of Sighișoara Municipality.
• The legacy of the Saxon and German communities in Sighișoara. A recent research and consolidation project from Sighișoara’s heritage: the Tinsmiths’ Tower, owned by the Evangelical Church – Dr. Bruno Fröhlich, Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Church of Sighișoara, COU member.
• The restoration project “Casa Șerbu”, consolidation and restoration of the Butchers’ Tower and Bastion – Dr. architect Cosmin Pavel, lecturer at UAUIM.
• The Good Practice Guide for the conservation and restoration of heritage facades in Sighișoara, a COU Sighișoara ongoing project – architect Klaus Birthler, project coordinator, COU member.
• Interactive session – questions, answers, reflections, ideas, observations, thoughts.

This series of dialogues is part of the project “Heritage HUB – Restoration, conservation, enhancement, and adaptive reuse of Casa Șerbu”, initiated by the Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation (MET) and financed by the National Institute of Heritage (INP) under the Historic Monuments Stamp (TMI) program.
Project partners: The UNESCO Organization Committee Sighișoara (COU), Art Conservation Support Association (ACS), and Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism (UAUIM).
