Organized on the eve of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8, the first Peasant Market at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant this fall brings together craftsmen, artisans, producers and collectors from all over the country.
Craftsmen and artisans bring only good things to give to their loved ones: icons, jewelry, floral arrangements, woven carpets, towels, scarves, traditional beaded ornaments, semi-precious stone jewelry, felted wool clothing, paintings, hand-carved wood and glass decorations, natural cosmetics, unique jewelry, leather goods, handmade toys.
Collectors bring dowry boxes, rustic furniture, old household tools, traditional clothing from different ethnographic areas, bowls, ceramic vessels, porcelain, vintage jewelry, old books, statuettes, candlesticks and much more.
You can taste and bargain with producers for different types of cheeses, cottage cheese, plum brandy and quince palinca, fresh fruits and vegetables, various types of zacuscă, pickles, jams and syrups, homemade cakes and pastries, honey and bee products and all sorts of goodies.
At the fair, you can also enjoy Romanian cuisine: freshly squeezed first must with delicious pastrami, grilled and cauldron dishes, kurtos kalacs and delicious donuts.
