Romania’s National Day, celebrated AT HOME: in Alba Iulia, in the Citadel of the Great Union.

This year, Alba Iulia invites you to relive the emotion of the place where Romania came into being. For over two weeks, the city becomes the scene of the most extensive program dedicated to the National Day: exhibitions, concerts, historical reenactments, book launches, folklore performances, cross-country ski races, traditional fairs, conferences, student festivals and solemn moments in memory of those who made the Union possible.

The central moment remains December 1, the day when Alba Iulia receives, as every year, Romanians from all corners of the country and the world.

The military parade, the torchlight retreat, the Kaleidoscope of the Union, the Te Deum, the reception of envoys from the seat fortresses and the great concerts in the Citadel Square will transform the city into a celebration of identity and gratitude.
