The National Village Museum "Dimitrie Gusti" invites you from October 24 to October 26, 2025, to the events dedicated to the celebration of Saint Dumitru, the spiritual protector of the museum, an occasion to commemorate Professor Dimitrie Gusti, the museum's mentor.

The celebration of Saint Dumitru marks the last and most important holiday of autumn, which, according to the pastoral calendar, represents the beginning of winter. In popular tradition, Saint Dumitru dries the plants and strips the forest of leaves, being the one who unlocks winter. It is the moment when heat enters the earth and frost begins to show its fangs.

Just as in the past this holiday was greeted with resounding feasts, memorials with colaci and games, so, in the current Fair organized in the National Village Museum, there will be famous recitals by Romanian folk music soloists from all over the country, such as: Ion Crețeanu (Voineasa, Olt County), Ilie Caraș (Bucovina), Cornelia Tihon (Bucuresti), Gabriel Dumitru (Pitești, Argeș County), Petronela Axintioaei (Flămânzi, Botoșani County), Bianca Gheorghe and the Codrulețul Folk Ensemble (Găești, Dâmbovița County), a show of dances and songs from Greek folklore performed by the Kymata Folk Ensemble of the Greek Union – Ploiești and an extraordinary recital - Marius Mihalache (tsambal) and Arabela Nicolau (vocals).

Also, on Saturday, October 25, the first edition of the National Museology Conference “Ethnomuseumology – Georgeta Stoica” will take place.
And last but not least, craftsmen from all over the country are waiting for you at the well-known fair with traditional Romanian products. There will be no shortage of traditional gastronomy products – cozonaci, pies, meat products, cheeses, gingerbread, organic products – honey, fruits and vegetables, zacuscă and seasonal jams.
