The Roman castrum of Drajna de Sus was one of the most important Roman military bases in Muntenia between 101 and 117/118 AD. Strategically well-positioned, the castrum played a significant role in protecting and controlling the road that connected the Lower Danube to southeastern Transylvania. Drajna de Sus is impressive not only because of its importance in ancient history but also due to the remarkable architecture of its historical landmark houses, dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
One such building is the Warthiadi Water Mill, which gained fame after appearing in the 🎬 film Haiducii lui Șapte Cai, starring Florin Piersic.
Travel back in time with the help of 3D animation and discover what Drajna de Sus looked like during its golden age.
Beldy Ladislau Castle in Budila

Just 18 km away from Brașov, Beldy Ladislau Castle in Budila is a true treasure of past eras. Built in 1731 by Count Béldy László, the castle still preserves remnants of a time when exquisite furniture and refined décor were symbols of prestige and status for the families who lived there. The finely carved doors, wooden ceiling, and fireplace in the ground-floor hall speak of its opulent past, making you wish you could travel back in time.
The castle's striking architecture has also caught the eye of filmmakers. In 1983, it served as a filming location for the 🎬 Dreptate în lanțuri film, a powerful and poetic film that follows the story of a Romanian peasant fighting against the oppressive system and corrupt justice at the beginning of the last century.
Mikó Castle from Olteni

Mikó Castle from Olteni, Covasna County, resembles a Transylvanian version of the Élysée Palace in Paris. Experts point out clear similarities in the building’s façade and layout, yet this grand structure remains unique in its own right. A historical monument of great cultural significance in Covasna County, Mikó Castle became a movie set location in April 2023, when the 🎬 Italian film Didi, directed by Edoardo Winspeare, was filmed.
The film follows the story of a 70-year-old woman born into an aristocratic Transylvanian family who is forced to return to her homeland and eventually forms an unexpected bond with her caretaker. Scenes were shot in the castle’s grand hall and adjoining rooms, with the production team creating special set designs that seamlessly matched the castle’s historic interior aesthetic.
