About

The "Crafts without Borders" project is funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova.
The ASTRA Museum obtained non-repayable funding from the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM) to carry out the "Crafts without Borders" project, which aims to promote Romanian folk traditions common on both banks of the Prut River and facilitate the transfer of cultural and spiritual values between generations.

The project was approved during the funding session launched by DRRM - an institution that supports initiatives dedicated to citizens of the Republic of Moldova and has as its main objective the knowledge of the elements of folk culture and art that define Romania's relationship with the Republic of Moldova.
Through "Crafts without Borders", the ASTRA Museum aims to develop a sustainable cultural product, adapted to the current cultural needs of Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Thus, during the period 14 - 25 August 2025, 72 craftsmen, folk creators, and folklore keepers - adults and children - will participate in events organized in the Open-Air Museum. These will include: fairs, shows, competitions and documentation actions, all
dedicated to the Romanian cultural heritage in the Republic of Moldova.

The team that developed the thematic concept of the project is made up of: researcher Dr. Mirela Crețu, director of the ASTRA Museum, museographers Elena Găvan and Alina Matei and Anca Tentiș, specialist referee.

Thanks to the partners in the Republic of Moldova: AO Union of Folk Craftsmen of the Republic of Moldova; Răuțel Village Hall, Fălești and Dondușeni District Council – Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Section.
