About

The rural environment is the ideal place where experiential gastronomic fairs have their place.

Romanian gastronomy is, in itself, an experience to be lived: for gourmets, for those who want to try different tastes and recipes that they have not tested before. Tourists who buy a ticket to Vatră și Ogradă will have the opportunity to discover local recipes with seasonal ingredients, many of them the result of the work of local producers from Prahova and Buzău. You will enjoy delicacies from the Burebista Butchery and matured cheeses, known to cheese lovers under the Ferma Dacilor brand.

The event will also include a fair component with small local and artisanal producers, who produce clean and wine from several areas of the country, so that we can offer more variety to those who love local, artisanal products made with respect for the environment and for consumers. We want Vatră și Ogradă to be a meeting place between the public and those small producers who put their soul into what they do and who carry forward the authentic taste.

Below, we give you a summary of what you will experience at Vatră și Ogradă, a unique concept in Romania:

■ Workshops and experiences for adults and children

Discover the charm of rural Romania and ancient traditions through experiential workshops in crafts, weaving and gastronomy. The experience cannot be complete without workshops inspired by the traditions of our grandparents and ancestors, and some of them will be accompanied by people who had the beautiful stubbornness to carry them forward:

• blacksmithing demonstrations
• pasta making workshop
• carving workshop
• donut workshop
• weaving workshop
• gastronomic workshop
• face painting for children
• playground and activities for the little ones
• horse riding
• wine tasting from Dealul Mare

■ Slow Food Corner organized by Slow Food Buzău and Slow Food Prahova
Slow Food Corner – a replica of the already famous "Artisans Market" in Buzău, which will be organized by the Slow Food Buzău and Slow Food Prahova communities.

You will have the opportunity to meet local producers from the Slow Food Buzău community, as well as other small artisan producers invited from the country, and to buy directly from them products made cleanly and in harmony with nature. Also at the Slow Food Corner you will be able to discover a varied selection of artisanal products, so that the experience is as rich as possible for those who appreciate authentic tastes and responsible work.
Also at the Slow Food Corner you will also attend a pasta-making workshop.

■ Delve into the secrets of matured cheeses with Andreea Popa and Marin Damu.
The variety of cheeses will be large enough to please even the most complex preferences. You will have the opportunity to taste matured cheeses from Ferma Dacilor, made from cow, sheep and goat milk.

Andreea Popa, official Academy of Cheese trainer, will hold masterclasses on June 13 dedicated to deepening cheese tasting. The experience will be complemented by local examples of cheeses produced by artisanal producers from all over Romania.

Cheese lovers will have the opportunity to delve into the secrets of their preparation, thanks to the over 20 years of experience of Marian Damu, who had the opportunity to learn from one of the most prestigious cheese masters in Italy.

■ Live gastronomy - taste, experiment, discover everything Dealul Mare has to offer as a gastronomic destination:
• mangaliță la proțap
• 3 guest chefs
• live bakery - kneading, rising and baking

■ Fair with small local producers from Prahova, Buzău and other corners of Romania:
• wineries from Dealul Mare and wineries in Romania that produce biodynamic wines;
• artisanal cheese producers;
• cold cuts;
• jams;
• craft beer;
• honey;
• vegetables and fruits, etc.

Hearth and Garden is about roots, about the joy of a shared meal, about tastes that tell a story and about a weekend spent beautifully, in the middle of a landscape that makes you slow down and enjoy like a child, in the month dedicated to children, young and old.
