One of the most beloved festivals in Bistrița returns, between June 20 and 22, 2025, with a complex and dynamic program, staging unique moments, interactive and creative activities that transform the audience into a true "actor" of the development of the local community.
The event will start on Friday, June 20 with the medieval/renaissance fair, organized in partnership with the Produs Association in Bistrița-Năsăud, accompanied by live craft workshops, medieval animation with fairy-tale characters, an exhibition of historical figurines and the official moment of handing over the keys to the fortress by the current county to the historical county. The evening will end with an extraordinary inter-arts recital, a premiere in Romania, which combines the fantasy folk musical style with dance elements, ancient rituals and pyrotechnic effects, supported by the Deloraine band from the Czech Republic.
On Saturday, June 21, the Bistrița Fortress Guards, along with famous knights from other lands - Paladinii de Terra Medies, Ignis Vultus, the historical reenactment groups Terra Ultrasilvana and Redivivus - surprise guests, will set up camp in the heart of the fortress, engaging participants of all ages in playful knightly activities and, at the same time, recreating important moments from the history of the Bistrița burg. The medieval parade, the parade of 100 torches, the medieval dances with the Nosa group and the fire show by the SiruiS band will certainly delight the audience.
Responsible for the musical atmosphere will be, in an arc over time, the Peregrinii - the minstrels of the past - and E-AN-NA - the minstrels of the 21st Century -, the latter being present at the Medieval Days in the Bistrița fortress with an acoustic concert in an extended format, in absolute premiere.
The medieval/renaissance fair, live craft workshops, medieval animation with fairy-tale characters, the exhibition of historical figurines and interactive activities in the medieval camp will continue both Saturday and Sunday.
The official moment of handing over the keys to the fortress by the historical judge to the current judge will mark the end of the Medieval Days in the Bistrița Fortress 2025, on the evening of Sunday, June 22.
Throughout the three days, the festive atmosphere will be complemented by a series of attractive activities, organized within the project "Be a knight for a day!" - financed from public funds allocated for non-profit activities of general interest by the Bistrița City Hall. aimed at involving young people from Bistrița municipality in the intelligent use of local resources: medieval games, cultural-historical guided tours, introductory workshops in the world of knights, treasure hunts, craft workshops for children and young people, etc.
